Too often we are forced to convince ourselves that change is near, things are getting better or that you will no longer experience a certain down fall again. It’s apart of our political campaigns, Sunday morning sermons, and can be found inside almost every self-help book. The doorway labeled “Better” seems to be getting further and further as the cycle continues. As you go about your day anxiously waiting for that spark of a moment to happen you suddenly start drifting back into feeling as if you are at the start of your journey again. Frustration kicks in and ego kicks back with an ongoing tug of war. Are we being deceived by our own conscious to believe that self improvement is even possible? Are we in a world and lifetime that is capable of change or is this simply an illusion?
Strive for growth and not perfection, learning from all mistakes and experiences. We are all here in this life traveling on our own path but where is your compass pointing? A journey can take a few seconds or a full lifetime but it will be impossible for change to manifest if we continue the cycle of not moving through that door. Conforming to an invisible force beyond understanding is probably the most difficult part of breaking this cycle. The force of “believing.” Believing that you have a purpose and fighting for that purpose, believing in the ones you care about, and fighting for them, and believing in your craft, refining it and sharpening it in every way.
I’ve personally experienced challenges and will be faced with more as my journey continues. I will fall but I’ve learned to brush the dirt off, stand back up, and keep moving forward. Whether picking up my camera, calling the team to knock out a few shoots or simply getting behind the computer to create some art, the progression must continue. If you need meditation to find your harmony then meditate, if it’s prayer then pray or if it’s working out go work out. Don’t stand still because that’s moving backwards. I see a huge difference in my mood and actions when the power of meditation and prayer is missing.
This life is not an illusion and walking through that “Better” door is more attainable than you are allowing yourself to believe. Learn to love yourself whole heartedly as whom you were created to be. Find that urge and hunger deep inside, reach in and pull that drive and passion to the surface. Look in the mirror and tell yourself that this is it! This is the day that I start believing that I currently possess all that I need to walk through that door.
